At Project Design Systems, Inc. (PDS), we're absolutely thrilled to celebrate nearly four decades of dedicated service, a journey rooted in strong family values and a deep commitment to building lasting relationships. This commitment extends beyond business, forming the very foundation of our family-owned and operated company. Established in 1985, our family has cultivated a rich legacy and is now embarking on an exciting new chapter with the successful transition of leadership to the next generation.
We are three siblings, each with significant history and experience within PDS, collectively bringing 45 years of dedicated work to the company. We are united in our commitment to upholding PDS's mission: providing comprehensive business systems, services, and solutions to both government and commercial clients, while also preserving the core values and relationships that have defined us.
Our story begins with our father, and Founder, Paul Baumann, Jr., whose career as a project engineer at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in 1971 laid the groundwork for his innovative approach. Specializing in up-front acquisition planning, Paul was tasked with leading the fielding of a critical operational component, the SQR-18 Towed Array, during the intense period of the Cold War. His success in shepherding emergent technology during this high-stakes time earned him significant recognition.
It was in the 1970s, while working for the Navy, that Paul met his wife of over 40 years, Ramona (Monie) Baumann, who served as a financial officer for NAVSEA. In 1985, driven by a desire to forge his own path, Paul founded PDS. A few years later, Monie joined him as Vice President, bringing her financial expertise to the growing company.
While maintaining a consistent contract with NAVSEA, Paul and Monie also explored new ventures. In the 1990s, they pioneered the leasing of office space to companies for short periods – a concept well ahead of its time and industry demand. Simultaneously, they designed and launched Corp_Pro℠, which would become a flagship offering.
Under Paul and Monie’s inspiring leadership, PDS achieved notable recognition, including being selected by Inc. Magazine as one of the 500 fastest-growing companies in the nation. Their dedication, tenacity, and unwavering "chutzpah" are the cornerstones that continue to shape PDS to this day.
We are honored to carry forward the legacy built by our parents and are excited to embrace the future, continuing to serve our clients with the same passion and expertise that have defined PDS for forty years.
